| 백수 라이프는 자고로 공원에서 즐겨야 맛이지. 오늘 점심밥먹고 배꺼트리려고 집에서 1킬로쯤 떨어진 공원 벤치에 산책을 갔어. 가는 길에 도로 변에 금발의 원피스를 입은 아가씨가 있었지. 생경한 옷 스타일을 보고 딱 외국인 같았어. more.. 보통 외국인을 보면 말을 걸고 싶은데 막상 용기는 없고 그래. (예전에 필리핀인들은 외국인이라고 나한테 막 시도때도 없이 말걸던데) 암튼 그녀는 도로변에서 택시를 잡으려고 하는 것 같았어. 근데 자꾸 사람있는 택시 잡을라고 그러고 좀 안습. 그래서 그냥 지나치는데 내 뒤쪽으로 좀 근접해오더군. 막상 말걸까봐 무서워서 빨리 걸으면서 뒤를 돌아봤는데.. 그녀를 정면에서 보니깐.. 파란 원피스의 그녀는 옷 앞부분이 파여서 조금.. 야했어. *-_-* 글이 마치 야설처럼 흘러가는 것은 곤란해. 다시 본론으로.. 암튼. 그녀는(영어로는 she야. 하하하) 택시도 안잡히고 그래서인지 지하도를 통해 길을 건너더라구. 그때 지하도 건너편의 길가에는 자동차학원 교육용 노란 승용차가 4대정도 서 있었지. 그녀는 그게 대기하고 있는 택시인 줄 알고 잡으려고 길을 건너는 것 같다고 난 한번에 눈치챘어. 똑똑하니깐. 난 그녀의 삽질과 자동차학원의 까칠한 조교 아자씨들이 당황하는 모습이 눈에 선했어. 나의 영어실력을 드디어 강호에서 발휘하게 될 때가 왔음을 직감했어. 그래서 사뿐히 무단횡단을 해서 예상대로 그녀가 자동차 학원 차량에 접근하는지 지켜봤어. 모든게 나의 예상대로.. 그녀는 노란색 운전면허 학원 자동차에 접근해서 잡으려고 하더군. 차 안의 사람은 현명하게도 그녀를 거들떠도 안 봤지. 자고로 외국인은 못본 척 하는 것이 상책이야. 자는 척도 괜찮고. 그래서 암튼 내가 그 쪽으로 다가갔어. 그리고 중학교 교과서 영어실력에 충실하게 제가 당신을 도울 수 있겠습니까? 이 것은 택시가 아니고 운전 훈련용 차량입니다. 제 생각에는 제가 당신을 도울 수 있을 것 같습니다. 당신은 저 쪽에서 택시를 잡을 수 있습니다. 패턴 잉글리시에 충실한 영어를 구사했어. 그녀는 내 말을 듣고는 자기가 멍청하다고 하고 또 뭐라고 블라블라거리며 웃었는데 물론 난 미소만 짓고 대꾸하지 않았어. 난 패턴에 없는 대화는 하지 않아. 그리고 가만히 있기 어색하기도 해서 당신은 어디로부터 왔습니까. 로 대화를 또 시도했지. 그녀는 코네티컷에서 왔다고 하며 미국인이라고 했어. 그 때쯤 입이 좀 풀려서 이름을 물어보고 싶었는데.. 거기까지 대화하던 중에 택시가 와서 잡아주고 태워서 보냈어. 그녀는 고향에 가서 한국여행에 대한 얘기를 하며 친절한 한국인으로부터 택시는 잡아주는 도움을 받았다고 친구들에게 자랑할 것이야. 한참있다가 생각났는데.. 내가 필리핀에 있을 때, 굳이 나에게 접근해서 택시를 잡아주던 필리핀 현지인들이 아주 많았어. 근데 걔네들은 공짜로 하는게 아니고 그게 아르바이트야. 걔들이 택시 잡아주면 외국인 손님이 5페소(대략 백원)를 주거나.. 손님이 안주면 택시기사가 5페소를 주지. 그녀가 100원 줘야할지 고민하진 않았겠지. 난 착하니깐 도와준건데. |
